ALINGSÅS JAZZ FESTIVAL MAY 9-11th 2003 |
Alingsås, 35 000 inh, is an old idyllic little country town, situated some 50 kms east of Gothenburg. The town was established in 1613. In 1724 a major textile industry was founded by Jonas Alströmer, a man also famous for teaching the Swedes how to cultivate and eat potatoes – which later eventually lead to production of some well-known distilled liquids. From 2001 Alingsås is also famous for it’s Jazz Festival. At earlier festivals bands like Sonny Morris Delta Jazz Band, Brian Carrick and Jensens New Orleans Band, Eddie Bruhner’s International Jazz Band, Swingsters, Max Lager’s N O Stompers, Nils-Bertil Dahlander, Tubatrion, Leif Sivertsson N O Band and some local choirs and bands have been joining the festival. 2003, in “apple blossom time”, there will be a new opportunity to listen to good old-time jazz. |
